bachelorette weekend

my friends know me too well. They knew I would not have the typical crazy bachelorette weekend but something low-key, just a girls weekend instead :)

They did not disappoint.

On Friday we met at an apartment that two of my bridesmaids live at. All the girls had made munchies and so we just hung out on Friday night

on Saturday morning, we woke up, they made breakfast for us and then told me to get ready. They surprised me and took me to the fair. They know me, I HATE rides but love the atmosphere and food at fairs :) They had parrots that were talking and we could pet right when we walked in!
We all rode the ferris wheel (only ride I'll go on!)
We ate plenty of Corn Dogs (and took pictures of EVERYTHING we did, obviously)

^^ Kari won 2 fish in a game and named them "Cody and Stephanie"; we went through the rabbit exhibit and looked at some cuties, and drank plenty of delicious strawberry lemonade

Later Saturday night, we dressed up and went to dinner together

It was a perfect weekend!

(nearly) midnight jumble

Since starting night shift at work, I've been trying to settle into my schedule-staying up as late as possible the night before my work week starts, taking a long nap the next day, working 12 hours that night, nap until 3-4ish, back to work, etc., etc. The first night is the hardest. I'm not one to stay up late (I've always been the first to fall asleep at every slumber party, ever.) And most of my friends are still in college so they have things like homework, meetings, etc. to keep them busy in these wee hours that I seek social interaction, ha.

Needless to say, I spend these hours trying to keep myself awake by virtually organizing our future home, scrolling through hours of Pinterest, and blogging.

Anyone seen the precious video of this guy? Love. it.

I'm not too keen on this article and similar ones. In our premartial lessons we've learned plenty well that we don't know much about our significant other, at all. We're still in that infatuation stage and will be for a few years. THEN, we'll get to know who we really are. I get that. However, I don't think we should title it as "marrying the wrong person". ouch. We're all imperfect, sinful, desperate-for-Jesus humans, let's help eachother out a bit, eh?

I stumbled upon this news and am so excited. I went to collegiate week in Glorietta, NM last August and heard The Hatmakers speak on several accounts. I love their hearts for Jesus, servitude, and sarcasm. I can't wait to watch their new TV show!

Coming up: tons of house updates as we get the keys, move in, and begin the decorating process!

last bridal shower

...as a bride, anyways.

I can't believe my bridal showers are already over. I thought a 7 month engagement would've been plenty of time to take it all in and enjoy every second, and here I am, 4 showers down and 1.5 months to go until we're married! I can't believe it!

In the midst of a crazy weekend (aka game day in a college town), my wonderful friends threw me the perfect bridal brunch shower! They are just like me in the sense that everything must look picture worthy....and have pictures taken of ;) It was perfect!

thanks Morgan for taking pictures!!

(^^Cody stopped by at the end to say thank you!)

(^^ we played a game of "how well do you know the bride?", my poor friends... I choose some specific answers, but they tried hard!)

It was perfect, thank y'all!

frilly invites

One of my close friends from home is getting married 2 weeks before I am in October. Since we're both super busy planning work schedules, moving, jobs, own weddings, we haven't had a chance to attend anything for each others weddings! In fact, we haven't even seen each other in months!

Anyways, we decided to throw each others bridal brunches for the day of each others weddings. So, since Shelby's is first, I got started on her invites. I saw these frilly ones on pinterest awhile ago and wanted to try. I originally wanted to sew the tissue paper on but after a stubborn sewing machine issue, I decided on hot glue and it ended up being super easy!

I printed the invites on my own printer on textured cardstock I got at hobby lobby. Shelby isn't a pink kinda girl, so I choose some different/fun colors for her theme!

I cut the tissue paper into 1 size rectangles (about 2"x4"?). In the pictures above and below you can see my little layerd piece where I glued the three sheets together with varying lengths showing. Then I just glued that to the top of the invite and cut thin stripes on it!

I also added some extra confetti to the envelope for more fun when they open them!

(psst. the total cost for 13 invites, was $4.00!)
