Feelin' Crafty!

This week I really don't have too much to be doing, and the weather isn't nice enough to lay out so I've spent most of my time being crafty! I made these two flowers and attached them to some headbands I bought (Target-$1). I was just going to buy some flowers and attach them to the headband, but I couldn't find any I liked so I used leftover fabric and buttons we had around the house so they ended up only costing about 50 cents!
Please tell me why I didn't think to glue the flower where the bass clasp was? Duh!  But I'm still impressed with my first attempt at making a flower. FYI, I cannot sew, but I tried with this!
I'm even more pleased with this one! I used these directions to make this. The folding is pretty intricate but I think overall it turned out great!! I used a brown headband with a purple button on this.

I'm happy to be putting good use to those scraps of old fabric around my house! :)

BIG NEWS!

First things first, I GOT INTO TECH'S NURSING SCHOOL! I've been awaiting that email forever, and pretty much had canceled out the thought that I could still get in. But, God has his own plan and still surprises me. In a previous post I wrote about the day everyone else got their emails, and how in my quiet time I read that "God's delays are not his denials".. how fitting! So, yes I found out a lot later than other people, but so happy that Tech's Nursing School is in my plan! :) I guess God is just teaching me how to let go and give him the reigns.

In other news, I've spent the weekend celebrating Claire's Birthday and crafting (tie dying, baking, and painting!) Nothing too exciting... I'm getting ready to leave for camp this weekend and now that I'm going to Tech, I have an online class to take so I have to figure that out first!

Craft update!!! That frame I bought at the Trade Days... I added a piece of chalkboard painted wood and ta-da! Chalkboard it is!

I decided to post a few of my "favorite things", at lease those that are at the top of my head at the moment:

1) Live with Regis and Kelly- if you know me, If i get the chance to sleep in till 8:45ish, I'll wake up at 9:00 to watch Regis and Kelly. I LOVE IT! I entered last year for them to call me for the daily trivia... but they never did.

2) Sonic Cherry Limeades: When I'm parched, I want nothing more than a cherry limeade. I've tried many Sonic drinks but this one still remains dear to my heart!

3) Burts Bees Chapstick: I've never been a fan of carmax and just always loved Burts Bees instead! I love the original but I've tried different flavors too!

I have many more "favorite things", but I'll save some for another post!

First week of summer!

Unfortunately even though it's summer... the weather is hardly warm. So, I've spent my week getting Stephanie's bridal shower ready, planning what to take to camp, and planning some craft projects for my future home! If you know me, you know I'm all about old furniture being remade so here's a few purchases I made at McKinney Trades Days and I'll touch them up for my home: (I'll post "after" pictures when the time comes)
These are some suitcases I got that happen to match the colors in my bedspread perfectly! I'm thinking of stacking them to make a nightstand!

I'm going to repaint the door black for my headboard; the frame is gonna be around a chalkboard-painted piece of wood to use for memos; the little chair is going with my vanity!
I got this at Goodwill awhile go, but figured I should take a pic now before I forget. I plan on painting it, adding another bulb, and adding some TLC!

This next week will be spent getting together invites for the bridal shower, packing, and getting everything ready to be gone for the next 6 weeks!

Finals Week!

Oh finals week... gotta love the week with a lot of free time to enjoy friends before a long summer separation. But, I always seem to find everything to do BUT studying..oops :) Since my last post... I have just been getting ready for summer and planning more exciting "to-dos". I'll be a counselor at Camp Waldemar May 23-July 2nd and I'm so excited! Summertime, camp, and a few of my best friends.. what else could I ask for?! Also, we celebrated Claire's "Lubbock" Birthday. Her real birthday is May 9th, but she's leaving tomorrow so we celebrated with the Lubbock crew the other night, and we'll celebrate again when we go home next week.  So, there's a picture of Claire getting ready to blow out the candles!

In my last post, I wrote about God's delays and while I didn't directly say it, being grateful for unanswered prayers. Tech nursing school is still a no-go for me, but I have SUCH a peace about it! I think this happened because God wants me to do something big this fall semester and I can't wait to see how the next semester goes! Also, I was worried that I would have to take this tough online class while at camp, and the thought of having to squeeze in a time-consuming class in rather than floating the river with my friends, did not go well. So, I definitely think God's plan for my nursing will be better than I can ever imagine!

Another worry of mine turned into answered prayer: I've been SO worried about where to live! I didn't sign a lease with my current roomies because at the time that they signed a lease I didn't know where I was going to school. So me and Chelsea Gray decided to live together. We'd looked at SO many houses, I had had tons of panic attacks, then we had alittle obstacle and we were leaning towards an apartment and just call it quits. But really, my heart wants a house. I've always wanted a cute little "college house". So, we were looking at apartments and planned on signing the next day and THAT NIGHT Chelsea got a call that her friend had 2 empty rooms! So, I don't know the girls or anything about the house but I'm so excited! Through the whole process I knew God was in control and I should trust him and I DID! But I'm a planner and with less than 2 weeks of school, I needed a place to live! And then and there, at the last minute, God revealed his plan :)

Anywho, I'll be spending the next few days "studying" until my 2 exams on Monday then packing up and outta here on Tuesday! Helllllooooo summer :) :)

my first entry!

I've thought about making a blog for awhile now and what's a better time than now!? Now meaning that within the next week I have... 4 finals, to find a place to live for the fall, and pack everything for summer. So naturally, I'm spending my precious free time making this :).

Let's see... I can't believe my sophomore year in college ends in ONE WEEK! I can't believe I'm this old already! I hate to see that college flies by this fast but after seeing how my past two years have completely changed me, I can't wait to see what the next two years hold! Currently I'm anxiously awaiting to find out if I got into Tech's nursing school! Whew, it's been stressful. However, I have a backup plan so all is okay if I don't get in. We were supposed to all find out last Wednesday and Thursday and so when I hadn't gotten an email by 5:00pm on Thursday, I told myself it wasn't going to happen. Then I find out that they weren't done sending the emails out, there's still hope! But that day I was having a little panic attack so in my quiet time I was reading John 11. A little background on this (trust me, there's a reason I'm including this little story)... this is one of the most known miracles that Jesus performed during his public ministry. Here, Lazarus is dying and his sisters ask Jesus to come help. Jesus loves Lazarus and has every intention to go but waits 2 days before going! In the end he raises Lazarus from the dead, can you believe it?! Anyways, how does this apply to me waiting for nursing school? My bible commentary for John 11:6-7 stated "God's delays are not God's denials. If our prayers are not answered immediately, perhaps he is teaching us to wait, and if we wait patiently, we will find that He will answer our prayers in a much more marvelous way than we ever anticipated." So as I have t-minus a few hours to the 5:00pm deadline I set that day, I read that. Wow, God you're so funny! But anyways, I'm not canceling out the idea of nursing even if I don't find out today, tomorrow, or I won't start nursing school when I intended to... there's a plan for me!

Yesterday, May 1, 2011 marked a huge event in U.S. history (and no, I don't mean Kate and William's honeymoon, HA!) Osama Bin Laden was killed! I was... pleased? I guess when I first heard, but definitely had mixed emotions from the start. I'm definitely not saying that I support him or "feel bad for him" but I just had this feeling in my heart that he's a human just like us. All this partying, "patriotism", didn't hit me I guess. Then I saw someone posted on facebook this morning,
Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice, or the Lord will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from them.” Proverbs 24: 17-18
I don't know exactly how I feel about the whole circumstance, or how to even word my feelings. Luckily, my wonderful roommates feel the same way so they know what I mean without having to say it :)
I guess that's all for now!
Oh, Happy 20th Birthday to my best friend Shelby Brawley!! :)
