FOUNDATION (post #1)

I say post #1 because i'm sure I'll post pictures once more are uploaded :). First off, here's the video:

Anyways, Foundation was AH-MAZ-ING! I loved loved my small group girls and all of the campers I met and of course THE STAFF! I'm so sad that we won't be seeing each other every Sunday anymore..

The retreat really got me thinking about spiritual growth and of course everything has been laid into place since I got home yesterday. I picked back up in "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan today and it has really convicted me/answered my exact questions! Here's some of my recent points:

"just like when you are hungry but nothing sounds good, you still eat because you know if you don't eat you will die. This is just as spiritual growth should be, it should be continuous so that it does not die" The wonderful Bess Caldwell told me this the other night and it really stuck with me. It also goes along with this quote from Crazy Love, "If life is a river, then pursuing Christ requires swimming upstream. When we stop swimming, or actively following Him, we automatically begin to be swept downstream." It's so important to know that there's never time to "take a break". Not during summer break, winter break, when we're tired, NEVER.

Don't give God the leftovers. It's so easy to say a quick little prayer right before bed when things start to not make sense anyways, rather than take time out of the day to really pray. Or to be on a "spiritual high" when it's good timing. We need to remember that God is so worth all of our time and everything about everyday should be about Him.

We are called to LOVE.  Love one another, Love God, and even love our enemies (Matthew 5:43-45). In Crazy Love, I was just reading this little "test". If we (followers of Christ) are to demonstrate love... replace the word "love" with your name in verses 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. RIIIIGHT.

"              is patient,                is kind.               does not envy,               does not boast,              is not proud.              is not rude,              is not self-seeking,              is not easily angered,              keeps no record of wrongs.               does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth..."

The point of this and my whole day is that I need to focus on focusing on God 24/7. God designed everyone for a specific purpose and we should aspire to give him full attention. Just think, if something happened today, what have you been investing your time in?

all moved in!

This past week I had been getting everything ready to head back to school! Cody and Stephanie came home from their honeymoon and stayed a few days with us then we  all left going opposite ways on Saturday. It was so overwhelming to see my new TINY room with so much stuff that needed a place to go. Finally, I managed to get it all put together. I still have a few last minute touches: hanging pictures, organizing wired things, etc. Eventually it'll looked finished!

My dad built me an armoir because I had such a shortage of space in my room! Here's some pictures of us building it:

and the final product:

Here's the full room:

and a few little touches that I added, thanks pinterest for the ideas!

i'm sure it'll become more "homey" over time and once I get everything adjusted!

and then there were two... Stephanie Mygrants that is!

It's official! Cody and Stephanie are married so I now have a sister (in-law) and there are two Stephanie Mygrants! It's been a whirlwind weekend but everything went perfect!

Friday: we hosted the rehearsal dinner at our house and had a "luau" theme since we were by the pool and they're at the beach for their honeymoon! I had so many little detail ideas to decorate for the dinner but the closer it got, the hotter it was outside leaving me no desire to add unnecessary touches. So, we all went to the church and practiced for the next day then back to our house. We added ice to the pool and ate bbq and played water volleyball till 11 or so!

Also, I had made wire hangers for all of the girls (me, Stephanie, Doris, Sandy, Brandi, Rachel, Staci, and Gigi) earlier in the summer. I made Stephanie's say "Mrs. Mygrant". We all hung our dresses on the hangers before we got ready. They weren't very hard to make and I think they turned out great!

Saturday: the bridal party and moms headed to a house at the lake for a bridal brunch hosted by some women at the church. Right after that we headed to the View to get hair and makeup done! and after that we were off to the church to get ready! Four O'clock came fast! The ceremony was beautiful and there was  a great turnout. Sadly, not everyone at the ceremony went to the reception so we didn't even get to see who all was there because we were busy taking pictures. We headed to the reception and had a blast until 8:30. It was great to see everyone and have a chance to mingle. Stephanie threw the bouquet and it grazed by hand so I claimed it :) (I may have a vertical advantage!). Cody and Stephanie were taken back to the house to change and get into Cody's car and off they went!

Today has been so relaxing now that everything is done! We swam all day and hung out, and the Jessens came over too and everyone feels at ease now!

Crazy week!

Last weekend we moved my stuff to Lubbock. I knew my room was small, but once we moved everything in, I had to brainstorm on some fast ways to store ALL my stuff, and I have ALOT! We lifted my bed for under-bed storage, got bins for under the dresser, and we're building an armoire for more storage in my room. I LOVE my room so far, but I won't take/post pictures until it's complete. We left my room in Lubbock piled up with things that didn't have a place to go yet, so I have a lot of organizing ahead of me. It was sad to say goodbye to 818 (my apartment this past year), lots of memories and good times took place there. But, i've always wanted a house... with wood floors and walls I can paint, and that's just what I got :) I'll miss the late-night laughs with the former roomies, but I'll still get to see them from time to time! Any-who, school shopping this year means scrubs, white leather tennis shoes, and a pile of textbooks (that grows daily, btw). So, this weekend is my brothers wedding. Then next week we can get my last minute things ready to head back to school! Cody and Steph will return from St. Lucia next Thursday night and so I think I'll wait to see them before I head out next Saturday. Then a few days of Foundation preparation, then FOUNDATION RETREAT! and a week later, school begins. It's crazy to think that I won't know my next visit home or when my parents will visit, how sad!

I have a few crafts up my sleeve, but some are surprises so I can't reveal until after Friday :)

However, I've been looking for a good nude pink nail polish for awhile now. And I keep getting colors that are too pink, too white, or too yellow. Finally I found the one! Sally Hansen's "petal pusher"

That's all for now, I'll update this weekend about the wedding!!
