After working the actual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we finally hit the road and went to Cody's parents. Thanks to our iPad and some downloaded shows on netflix, we had our FIRST road trip without one meltdown!! we got to Cody's parents about 9:30 pm and waited for the rest of the family to arrive, the kids played little, and Ev ended up going to bed 4 hours past her bedtime, yikes.
The next morning we woke up for "Christmas morning". It's so fun being with family, but little chaotic chasing tiny hands and curious minds. Ev always seems to want to open someone else's gifts but shows little interest in her own, ha!
After a late morning nap, Ev got to open a kitchen from her mimi and pop pop!
I'd like to say a big thank you to Ev for taking 2 perfect naps/day and going to bed without a fuss. This trip was a piece of cake until....
right after opening her kitchen had... a very upset tummy. I'll spare details but we knew something was going on. That night she proceeded by vomiting everywhere. The next day, she felt better but by that night most of the adults were down for the count. Luckily Cody and his mom and our niece by passed it, but everyone else got the bug. I spent the whole night getting sick myself which was no fun. By Thursday morning, we were feeling better and ready for a change of pace haha! We had plans to head to my parents on Thursday so we headed that way!
We had plans to take Christmas pictures with the entire family, but since were the only whole family feeling decent, we only got ours taken, ha!
we got to my parents about noon on Thursday, ate lunch, went to dinner and just relaxed. The next morning we had our Christmas morning with them. The theme for Ev this Christmas was definitely baby dolls.
She loves babies right now! She carries around her babies, pats their backs, "feeds" them, puts them in their bed, grocery cart, stroller, etc. and says "shh" hah! Hopefully this is good news to become a big sister in a few short months!
I was able to visit with close friends while at home, eat at my favorite restaurant, and enjoy being home! We headed back home on Saturday, NYE for our least exciting new years night ever, ha!
Unfortunately, over the holiday Cody's uncle suddenly and very unexpectedly passed away. We have been in shock and mourning the news for days. Cody left Wednesday-Friday to go be with family, while I stayed here with Ev, for work, etc.
On Friday while waiting for Cody's return, we received about 1.5 inches of snow so Ev and I took a quick stroll to the mailbox/allowing her to play outside. She LOVES to walk around in the snow.
