below freezing

This weekend was the wedding weekend of our friends Garrett and Morgan! It was a beautiful wedding in Ft. Worth, and Cody and I were both part of the wedding party so that made it fun :) It was so. cold. Like, 30 degrees. and outside. It turned out perfect though!

When we got back home on Sunday, this was what our street looked like:
beautiful, but very cold. So, Cody and I made soup out of all the ingredients we had and watched movies.... after we took some pictures in the snow :)

I also did some more Christmas decorating now just to buy a new tree and start that process.

thankful.

Thankful

Thankful for a loving, gracious, jealous, just God. He had His son come to the world and die for ME and YOU.

My husband. I loved dating him the 14 months we were together prior to getting married. But, like everyone says, you learn so much more about each other once the titles Mr. and Mrs. are in place. He’s already taught me so much about his passion for Jesus, patience and love. He offers me so much grace daily, knows how to cool me down when I’m upset, and rebukes me when I need a wake up call. He is thankful and observant when I serve him. He takes care of me and protects me. He loves me so much, even the silly/girly aspects of me. Like, when I say “lets get dressed really fast and go outside and take pictures in the snow before it melts”, he has the camera on the tripod ready to go before I turn around. He doesn’t ever put me down, but always lifts me up and encourages EVERYTHING I do.

My family. Considering I got married recently, I’ve seen a lot of love and service from my family over the last 7 months. I am so blessed by their love for me. Even when I’m a diva, or crying because of something silly, or forget to call them for days.

My friends. Again, having a recent wedding has allowed me to see my friends hearts and service even more evidently. I’m beyond grateful for my best friends. They all have the heart of Jesus seeping out, have so much grace to offer, and love one another. They love to spoil each of our friends and make everyone feel special. They encourage, cry, laugh, and pray for each other daily.  At the two weddings (mine and a friends) within our friend group in the last month, I’ve heard many many comments from older adults about our different, loving, amazing, our friends are just from hearing our hearts and seeing everyone serve one another.

My job. Being a nurse can be hard. Working at night (and holidays) is a hard schedule…. especially when you’re married! But I love getting to be a nurse and be such a crucial role in the biggest day of someone’s life. Cody and I are very blessed by my job as it has allowed us to get a good start on our own feet.

I'm also thankful for snow outside, candles, and coffee :)

We were nervous about being newlyweds so close to the holidays. Not only does that make things difficult, having to split holidays 50/50, but also the fact that I’m a nurse and am required to spend holidays working. I’ve spent every holiday on the actual date celebrating with my family….until now. I was almost in tears the only day being frustrated and selfish when Cody reminded me that the actual day doesn’t matter. Holidays are a time to be with family and celebrate together. Thank you.

With that said, Cody and I celebrated our thanksgiving on our 1 month anniversary, Nov. 26th! It was a fun, busy day with him having a test, me having an orthodontist appointment, renting a UHaul and moving the remainder of my stuff from my old apartment, and cooking an entire thanksgiving meal. But, for my first meal to cook and by myself it turned out pretty well!

It got pretty quiet in our house, so I walked into our room to find Cody reading my wedding present to him :)

(Cody doesn't like mashed potatoes, so we did rosemary red potatoes and mushrooms)

happy thanksgiving!!

snapshots of our home

remember the post about our house? it's been about 2 months and we've done alot of updating/moving in/remodeling.

I also jumped ahead and started decorating for Christmas, oops. I'm usually the one to wait until after thanksgiving but I thought that decorating for Christmas would force me to finish those last little details of our home.

I did a few Christmas crafts today:
I made 2 styrofoam trees to add to mantle decor; one with popsicle sticks and one with felt pieces

^^I also made this pom pom and pinecone garland for the mantle. Since the pine cones are too heavy for the yarn and are turned, i'll be changing them to a wire garland asap ;)

our little "drop off" area when you enter the kitchen. I love our dry erase frame for notes to eachother and the cookbook our friends/family made for us with their favorite recipies
 our drink station

I stained this table and the chairs from a light wood to this dark color, we love it!

^^our bedroom. I got us matching nightstands, lamps, and mirrors to be "his" and "her". Our house has old chandeliers in practically every room, how fun?!

I repainted the blue entry way. While the table decor may need some rearranging, i LOVE the neutral striped wall that we did!
